CHRIS GUTTERIDGE

GARDEN DESIGNER & LANDSCAPE ARCHITECT | BA (HONS), DIP LA, MSGD

After Graduating, I founded Second Nature Gardens in 2007. Since then the company has gone on to design and build gardens across England and has won a number of awards at major RHS shows. My key design ethos is that the gardens I create should, first and foremost, be built on the distinct relationship between the client and the space. I aim to create fresh modern gardens as well as more traditional designs that are ultimately usable and practical spaces.

I am a ex-board member and registered member of the Society of Garden Design (SGD) which verifies my design work is of the highest standard. With Second Nature Gardens, I am registered with the British Association of Landscape Industries (BALI). i have designed a RHS Chelsea Flower Show SGD Trade Stand for the SGD and i have exhibited my garden designs at a number of RHS shows including the RHS Chelsea Flower Show in 2012 with the ‘Rainbows Children’s Hospice Garden’ (Silver Medal), the RHS Chelsea Flower Show in 2009 with an Urban Garden '1984' (Bronze Medal) and the RHS Hampton Court Palace Flower Show in 2007 with ‘Child’s Play’. I have also exhIbited my work at BBC Gardeners’ World Live Show Garden in 2008 with 'Don't Sit in the Sink' (Silver Medal). Most recently in 2018, I exhibited at the inaugural Belvoir Flower Festival with a show garden for the Gardeners’ Royal Benevolent Charity, Perennial. I have lectured regularly at Moulton College and Capel Manor College and I have presented a design seminar at RHS Tatton Park. I am a regular panelist on BBC Radio Leicester’s Down to Earth show and present talks to the W.I.. and local garden groups.

I work independently as a garden designer and also as a freelance design consultant for Isola Garden Design.
